EU VAT – what is it and how does it affect digital goods such as scrapbooking kits and other scrapbooking and digital services?

On 1 January 2015, a new tax law was introduced to impose VAT on sellers in countries that are not in the EU but sell to EU countries. This has prompted some vendors of digital goods and services to exclude EU customers from buying their digital goods.

Here at Blue Flower Art, we don’t believe that customers should be excluded and although we don’t agree that such an onerous task should be imposed on micro business, we think this it unacceptable to exclude customers simply because of where they live.

After a little research, Blue Flower Art store at is EU VAT compliant.

There may be some teething problems so please be patient with us while we implement this change and we are happy to refund any over charges should they occur.

There are many petitions in place so you can vote to have this onerous tax removed however, until it is removed I would encourage other shops to comply rather than ignore or exclude customers and for store owners to assist their sellers in complying with the new laws.
